MOBILE, Ala. – Over 350 people joined together this past Fridayto participate in Austal USA’s 14th annual Charity Golf Invitational in an awesome display of teamwork to raise over $240,000 for 20 local charities.  This event, held at the Magnolia Grove Golf Course, has raised over $3 million for local non-profit organizations, including event partner United Way of Southwest Alabama.  The charity invitational is one of the many ways Austal USA gives back to the community whose enduring support has enabled the company’s success as a major contributor to the maritime industrial base for more than 25 years.

This year, 80 teams comprised of players representing Austal USA’s employees and the company’s suppliers, and many additional sponsors participated in the invitational. The fundraiser benefited charities in Mobile and Baldwin County (list at end of release) that were selected based on their charitable missions and the impact that their projects would make with the funding from the tournament. This event also provides Austal USA’s employees the opportunity to strengthen partnerships with the many suppliers and community members who support the company’s success on many levels.

“On behalf of our entire Austal USA team, thank you for your participation and support here today,” said Austal USA Chief Growth Officer Dan Brintzinghoffer to the event participants. “We have come together not just for a round of golf, but for a shared commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those around us.  This tournament is a testament to Austal USA’s deep-rooted belief in corporate giving and our dedication to supporting the communities where we live, work, and play.  The funds raised through your participation, sponsorships, and donations will directly enable our 20 benefiting charities to continue their invaluable work.”

“Austal USA’s Charity Golf Invitational is a powerful example of what can happen when a community comes together with purpose,” said Justine Bixler, President and CEO of United Way of Southwest Alabama. “This event brings energy, generosity, and shared commitment to the forefront, creating real opportunities for nonprofit organizations to expand their impact. We are proud to stand alongside Austal USA and the suppliers that invest in our region to ensure the highest quality of shipbuilding and community investment. Their continued investment strengthens services that support individuals and families across Southwest Alabama and helps build a stronger future for our region.”

Austal USA will soon announce the opportunity for local charities to submit applications for next year’s event.
