Mobile, Ala. –Austal USA announced today that Dan Brintzinghoffer will join the company as Vice President for Business Development and External Affairs, effective February 9, 2026. Brintzinghoffer will succeed Larry Ryder, who has played an integral role in shaping Austal USA’s growth and strategic direction.
Brintzinghoffer brings more than 30 years of distinguished experience across the U.S. Department of Defense and the defense industry, with a proven track record of driving business growth, strategic planning, and delivering innovative solutions across complex, multi-domain programs. His leadership, technical expertise, and results-driven approach further strengthen Austal USA’s executive leadership team.
Most recently, Brintzinghoffer served as Leidos Senior Vice President of Growth and Strategy for the Defense Systems Sector, where he led strategic planning and business development for a $2 billion portfolio. Under his leadership, the organization secured more than $11 billion in new business awards and expanded capabilities in space sensing systems, hypersonic technologies, and maritime domain solutions.
Brintzinghoffer’s career includes decades of honorable service in the U.S. Navy, where he held critical leadership positions such as Commanding Officer of USS Pinckney (DDG 91), Program Manager for the Littoral Combat Ship Fleet Introduction, and Executive Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development, and Acquisition. His extensive experience in shipbuilding, program management, and defense acquisition aligns closely with Austal USA’s expanding maritime and submarine programs.
