Mobile, Ala. – Austal USA delivered the future USS Pierre (LCS 38) to the U.S. Navy today, the second ship delivered by Austal USA to the Navy in less than a month. LCS 38 is the 19th Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) delivered by the company and is the last of the Independence-variants that will be delivered.

MOBILE, Ala. – Austal USA announced its 2026 Annual Charity Golf Invitational will take place on Friday March 13, 2026.  Applications are now being accepted for charities that wish to be considered for receiving a share of the proceeds of the tournament.  Austal USA encourages charities supporting the South Alabama region, especially in Mobile and Baldwin counties, to submit applications.

MOBILE, Ala. – Austal USA and U.S. Navy representatives signed official documentation onboard USNS Point Loma (EPF 15) Tuesday, June 24, signifying delivery of the ship. Delivery is the last milestone before EPF 15 enters the Military Sealift Command fleet.

Mobile, Ala. – Austal USA successfully completed acceptance trials on the company’s 19th Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), the last ship in the class. Future USS Pierre (LCS 38) returned to port late on June 11 after conducting trials.

MOBILE, Ala. – Austal USA successfully launched the company’s first steel ship, the future USNS Billy Frank Jr. (T-ATS 11), on June 14.  Named after a native American Korean War veteran who, as an activist, fought for justice and environmental preservation in the Northwest United States, Billy Frank Jr. is a Navy Towing, Salvage and Rescue Ship – one of 3 under construction at Austal USA and the first steel product of the company’s state-of-the-art automated steel panel line.

MOBILE, Ala. – Austal USA and the Navy’s Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF) program team successfully completed acceptance trials on the future USNS Point Loma (EPF 15) May 21.  Completion of acceptance trials means the ship is now ready for delivery to the Navy.

MOBILE, Ala. – Austal USA welcomed Rear Admiral (RADM) Jonathan Rucker, PEO Attack Submarines, at the company’s Mobile, Ala. shipyard yesterday. RADM Rucker began his visit by addressing more than 200 members of the Austal USA and General Dynamics Electric Boat submarine manufacturing team.  RADM Rucker emphasized the valuable work they are doing for the Virginia-and Columbia-class submarine programs.  He then toured Austal USA’s advanced ship manufacturing facility and discussed the company’s critical role as a strategic partner to grow the submarine industrial base.

Mobile, Ala. – Austal USA’s shipbuilding team once again demonstrated their commitment to safety in the workplace by earning the American Equity Underwriter’s (AEU) Excellence in Safety Award for performance in 2024.  As the leading provider of workers’ compensation for waterfront employers, AEU presents safety awards each year to its best performing members nationwide.

MOBILE, Ala. – Austal USA celebrated the official start of construction on the future USNS Solomon Atkinson (T-ATS 12), the Navy’s seventh Towing, Salvage and Rescue Ship, with a keel laying ceremony today at the company’s Mobile, Ala. ship manufacturing facility.  Ship sponsors Joann Atkinson, Solomon Atkinson’s widow, and daughters Michele Gunyah and Maria Hayward, authenticated the keel by welding their initials into a keel plate that will be welded to the hull of the ship.  They were assisted by Rufus Lord, a fifteen-year Austal USA veteran A-class welder.

MOBILE, Ala. – Austal USA welcomed Rear Admiral Paul Carroll, Director of Submarine Acquisition at the UK Ministry of Defense, at the company’s Mobile, Ala. shipyard yesterday. RAdm Carroll visited to Austal USA to see the company’s facility and the submarine manufacturing efforts supporting the Submarine Industrial Base in conjunction with his meetings with Program Executive Office for Submarines on bi-lateral industrial base efforts.
